NAIL FUNGUS

Nail fungus is also called onychomycoisis (on-ih-koh-my-KOH-sis) and is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail.  As the fungal infection goes deeper, nail fungus may cause your nail to discolor, thicken, and crumble at the edge.  It can affect several nails.  If your condition is mild and not bothering you, you may not need treatment.  If your nail fungus is painful and has caused thickened nails, self-care steps and treatment may help including medications.  Treatment may also involve the cosmetic appearance of your nail or toenail.

At Elite Medicine and Aesthetic Institute, we offer many treatment options for nail fungus that are proven safe and effective.  There are no unpleasant side effects and no downtime is required to be off your feet or stop using your hands.  It is fast, effective, and results are typically visible within the first three months as the nails begin to grow out.

The Nd:Yag Laser on our Cutera Xeo Laser kills the toenail fungus that lives in and under the nail.  The laser light passes through the nail without causing any subsequent damage.  After a series of 3-5 monthly treatments, the nail will grow out completely, and you will notice the change.  This normally takes about 9-11 months total for nail growth.  Treatment is painless and takes under 30 minutes. We have effectively combined Laser treatments with a nail product called Formula 7, which is the first paraben free antifungal microemulsion fortified with cosmetic and bactericidal agents.  It contains nanoparticles formulated with tolnaftate to kill bacteria, and other ingredients to enhance penetration into thickened nails and restore healthy appearance of nails. It also contains urea, vitamin E and jojoba seed oil, all which rehydrate and restore the healthy appearance of your nail.
