What is JEUVEAUTM or #NEWTOX?
JeuveauTM (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is an alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic in that it is another purified form of botulinum toxin that is FDA approved in February of 2019 for treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. This is the newest neuromodulator to hit the market and is unique in that it is used only for cosmetic purposes, unlike BOTOX® which may be used for medical purposes. JeuveauTM can be a bit hard to pronounce, so the company has nicknamed it NewTox, a much more easy term for toxin patients to understand AND pronounce.
How does NEWTOX work?
JeuveauTM targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines, the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. These muscles are injected the same way as BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your frown lines between your brows, or other areas of concern that have been injected for cosmetic purposes.
A complimentary consultation and facial analysis will be performed where your personalized treatment goals and plan will be discussed. At that time, the treatment areas will be chosen and the procedure can be performed. You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 3 or 4 months. Treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery; it’s often called a lunchtime procedure. You’ll be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave the office.
JeuveauTM or #NEWTOX is a technique-sensitive treatment—look for someone who is licensed and trained and has experience treating patients with this product and/or other forms of neurotoxins like BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your frown lines between your brows, or other areas of concern that have been. Be wary of discount products or “cheap” BOTOX® Cosmetic or NEWTOX—if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
